This month we will be reading The Fault in our Stars by John Green; it’s been over a year since this book has been released and it still talked about regularly. This book was picked as part of our Best of 2012 poll; a yearly poll ran to pick our group read, based on what the group thought were the favourites of the previous year. For those that are not sure about this book, give it a chance, it’s more than just another Young Adult novel and it’s more than just a book about Cancer. I may be bias but I love John Green’s works and think this is pretty decent starting point into his style.
Looks like that we will be reading Lolita after all; this book lost by one vote on the banned book poll a few months back and we ended up reading Salman Rushdie’s The Satanic Verses. But as the results of the Russian Literature poll we will get a chance to dip into this controversial and brilliant book. I’m looking forward to the chance to reread this book and see what I get out of it this time round. Also looks like we will be doing another region read as we are looking for nominations for our Japanese Literature poll for April’s book. Join in all this fun over at Goodreads and don’t forget to vote in the polls.
As for my personal reading this month, I’m not sure what I’ll be dipping into apart from the books I’ve already started which are Young Philby by Robert Littell, One for the Books by Joe Queenan, Fool Moon by Jim Butcher and March Violets by Philip Kerr. I do have some book club books to read including Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan but other than that, I just love reading on a whim and picking up whatever books look good at the time. I know it makes it difficult to talk about my reading plans for the month but I think with the book clubs and the books I’m still reading there is enough planned for me anyway. Please let us know if you have any books planned for the month and happy reading everyone.
